The objective of this study is to visualize cross sections of the surface layers of concrete at different finishing times using electron microscopy imaging. For the first image, an area roughly 1.5 mm deep from the surface of the concrete was observed using a scanning electron microscope. When the concrete surface was finished and after the bleeding of water had stopped, the surface was smooth and no large voids or cracks were observed in the surface layer in the electron microscope image. In the image, the concrete surface layer was bright, and it was observed that the structure of the surface layer was dense. The second image is of high strength concrete. High strength concrete was difficult to finish at the initial setting time. Even after the bleeding of water had stopped, the surface of the concrete was hard, making the concrete difficult to finish.
